Wheat Out

This week has not been our most favorite of weeks. I tried to keep up the positive vibes but sometimes it's really hard to keep pushing.

We found out that Ryan is allergic to gluten and wheat. Which is really sad because that means he can no longer eat pasta and bread or drink beer (and many other things)... Total bummer.

However - trying to look on bright side - that also means we will be eating a bit healthier. Think of all the unhealthy food he has to cut out of his diet (cake and cookies)! I'm going to try and do the same to support him.
I'm looking at this as a new adventure. We have studying to do, as well as food shopping!

If you have any great gluten-free recipes or food brands you know of please comment below!

Enjoy the weekend!

I'm starting to get a little tired of you...

When it takes over 40 minutes to get about a mile and a half on the subway you wonder why you put yourself through the torture of the New York City subway system. Why don't I walk? Or take a cab? Or the bus?
Well, walking would take longer and it's snowy and slushy outside. A cab is just as bad and expensive and the bus is cheap but takes forever.

So what's a girl to do? Deal with it. Or get out of town.

New York City, I'm starting to get a little tired of you...

Time for a check-in!

Well, I think it's time to check in with my 2016 New Year's Resolutions...
Here's how I'm doing!
  • Rid our apartment of things that we haven't used in over a year.
    • I was doing really well with this and now my drive has faded a little bit... However, we have gotten rid of A LOT of stuff. So I would give myself a B- on this one!
  •  Read!
    • I'm reading every day to and from work. So far I've read one book. A+ !
  • Travel to new places
    • This is still in the works. It's only been a couple of weeks!
  • Cook more!
    • A+ on this resolution! Blue Apron is magical and really helping me be more confident in the kitchen. I've now cooked nine new recipes. booyah!
  • Practice positivity
    • Some days it's been hard to 'look on the bright side' but I do think I've been a more positive person. I've also been reminding Ryan that he needs to join me in being more positive. I'll give myself a B.

How are you doing on your Resolutions/Goals?

Blizzard Mania!

As you all know, the East Coast had a HUGE storm over the weekend. Ryan and I were excited to just  relax, watch TV and eat delicious food.

We adventured out on Saturday afternoon to see if any of the restaurants or bars were open and found one that was staying open until 4pm. We enjoyed some snow storm beverages and headed back home for another delicious dinner from Blue Apron.

We also made chocolate chip peanut butter walnut cookies - from scratch!

I had so much fun it was really hard to get up at 6am and head to work...
