My Name is Catie... And I'm Messy - Part 5

Well. I've completed another project. And it was a little overwhelming. I know I have a lot of stuff, but man. DO I HAVE A LOT OF STUFF. yikes!
Before I started tossing, cleaning and organizing the bathroom I visited HomeGoods for just a couple of organizational items. They didn't have a ton of stuff, but I did find an awesome medicine cabinet organizer and a little shelving unit thingy for under the sink. I really wanted to use what I had with this project. You know, save some moolah...

As you can see, I took everything out of what I was cleaning and organizing. I tackled under the sink first - then did the medicine cabinet (the easiest) and then the three tiered storage unit (the thing I was afraid of).

The best part of the day was listening to music and getting the bathroom done in one day. The worst part... Trying to find a place for everything! I'm also really bad at throwing things away. However, I filled TWO grocery bags full of stuff! I would call that a success!

Here's the end result:

Another great thing about throwing out old, out of date products - you have room for the stuff you use regularly! Because I threw out so much stuff the bottom drawer of the storage unit was empty. So now we are able to keep our bath towels IN the bathroom. WOW! haha Who would have thought!?

Hey Big Spender... I mean Saver!

I'm a spender. But I love saving money. I love Dave Ramsey and read blogs about finance all the time. You'd think I'd be a pro!
I'm just not that great at continually saving... I'm great for a month or two and then I get a little crazy and have to go shopping. Oops.
This year Ryan and I wrote down our financial goals so we can see them every day. Just doing this little thing has helped me. Seeing our BIG goal daily - buying a house - makes all the difference to my little shopper self.
I've even gone so far as to write notes to myself in my planner. HOUSE > selfish purchases
It's working.
We also decided not to take that little tropical vacation I wrote about last week. Instead, we're getting a couples massage this weekend. Still super fun and relaxing, but WAY less expensive.
Slowly but surely we're getting there. It helps that Ryan is a very good saver. I'm getting better and better every day.
Are you a spender or a saver? Or both?!

My Name is Catie... And I'm Messy - Part 4

I've now moved to our bathroom. I have WAY TOO MUCH STUFF! This weekend's goal is to go through this little storage container and get rid of anything out of date and anything that hasn't been used. I just like to keep stuff - you know, just in case I need it...
I have an obsession with Neutrogena hand cream...

I also have my eyes on the cabinet under the skin... It's go time. Tackling one room at a time makes this whole cleaning and organizing thing not so scary. :)

Look for my update next week!!!

My Everyday Make-up

I'm always curious about what make-up other people use, so I thought why not share what I use. Maybe you'll find a product that you've never used before! So here's what I use on a daily basis!

As you can tell I love Laura Mercier... I use the loose powder, eye shadow and blush.
I LOVE the Luminous Silk Foundation from Armani. It's worth the splurge.
Speaking of splurges... Cle de Peau concealer is also worth the money. It hides any skin imperfection and under eye circles - it's magic.

I'm very pale so I also use bronzer. YEAR ROUND. I have blonde eyebrows so the Anastasia brow pencil helps to accentuate them and let people know I actually have eyebrows! hah! :)
The Almay one coat triple effect mascara is pretty awesome too. I had a coupon for it and bought it on a whim. I think it was around $9 and it's just as good as the $30 mascara I've purchased in the past. There's two sides to the wand so you can hit the top lashes and bottom lashes.

What are some products you can't live without?
