The Little Things

My quest for an organized household is still in full force. This past weekend I focused on my jewelry.
This jewelry organizer did the trick!
I've never really had a designated place to keep my necklaces, lately I've been hanging them in our bathroom. Not the best place for them. So when I came across this jewelry organizer on clearance at Target, I knew I had to buy it.
I also picked up that candle you see... I'm just a little obsessed with candles... I can't leave Target or Pier 1 Imports without one in my basket! Anyways - moving on!
A little part of my life has been organized for only $6! I love how my necklaces are displayed now and I can SEE everything. Which in turn makes getting dressed in the morning just a little bit easier. Total win-win.

It really is the little things that make you happy. I keep realizing this time and again when I make little organizational changes and updates.

My Name is Catie... And I'm Messy - Part 4

I've now moved to our bathroom. I have WAY TOO MUCH STUFF! This weekend's goal is to go through this little storage container and get rid of anything out of date and anything that hasn't been used. I just like to keep stuff - you know, just in case I need it...
I have an obsession with Neutrogena hand cream...

I also have my eyes on the cabinet under the skin... It's go time. Tackling one room at a time makes this whole cleaning and organizing thing not so scary. :)

Look for my update next week!!!

Hello my Name is Catie... And I'm Messy - Part 3

I have this problem of piling my clothes on our dresser. This is going to sound reallllly lazy... I guess I'm too tired to make the active choice of either - does this piece of clothing need to go in the laundry or be hung back up in the closet. When I think about it and actually write it down I'm embarrassed.

My next 'project' is our bedroom. I've just begun to deep clean it. But I'm nowhere near done!

So far I've gone through my clothes and added any of my nice higher end clothing that I haven't worn in over a year to my ThredUp Bag. This is the second time I've used Thred Up and I only have good things to say about the company. Anything they do not choose to purchase they donate. Everyone wins.

I've also gone through my socks and underwear drawers. Tossing out anything remotely worn out. I have way too many pairs of socks.
I'm on a roll! In a couple of days I'm going to go back in to my closet and review it again. I'm feeling lighter already!

Hello My Name is Catie... And I'm Messy - Part 2

Okay! Part 2 of Hello My Name is Catie... And I'm Messy has been completed!
I started small and wanted an easier project that wouldn't be overwhelming... since you know, being neat and organized isn't my strong suit.

So, I tackled our desk! Which I had taken over and just turned into a mess. It now looks so nice and inviting! I actually want to sit at the desk and get things done. I might be browsing the internet more, since now I have a pretty and organized desk to sit at.

So, how did I do accomplish this? Just a couple of things really.
First - Some money. I visited the Container Store on my lunch break and hit up the Home Office section. They have an amazing selection and so many colors to choose from. My purchase was under $70 dollars! (The line to check out was very long... so going on your lunch hour during the holiday season might not be the best idea... oops!)
Second - A garbage bag to throw out all the stuff you don't need. I used the bag all of my purchases came it. Recycling at it's finest :)
Third - 30 - 45 minutes of pure cleaning and organizing.

That's it! And the finished product looks pretty darn good!

What I bought- file folder, double drawer, white board and three magnetic holders for the little stuff (paperclips and pushpins).
Just a couple of more Christmas cards to send out!
The hardest part for me is always throwing things away. I'm a little bit of a pack-rat... Almost everything I keep has memory. Or, I just might need it someday... I'm trying to get over keeping and do more tossing.

I can't wait to pick my next spot in our apartment! Where should I head next???
